The East Hampshire Disability
Forum was formed in 2000.
Its aims are to (i) Raise
the profile of disabled people in the community (ii) Provide an accessible contact point for disabled people (iii) Inform
people on disability issues (iv) Advise
on the Disability Discrimination Act, help people understand it and encourage good practice (v) Identify what
is not provided for disabled people
Its objectives are to (i) MARKET EFFECTIVELY WHAT IT DOES (ii) PRODUCE
AND PROVIDE clear and accessible INFORMATION about the Forum (iii) CHAMPION the cause of disabled people across East
Hampshire (iv) EDUCATE nicely - to act as ambassadors for the needs of disabled
people (v) SIGNPOST - where enquiries are beyond the remit of
the Forum to refer them to other appropriate organisations and individuals (vi)
CULTIVATE relationships
with key partners The Forum’s key strength is in being user-led, therefore expert-led.
Its constitution states that 75% of the management committee will be disabled people. It also has well-established
relationships with local government and other district-wide organisations and plans to develop these partnerships further.
